Within minutes she charged back to the hall.
“Bukky, who tore my clothes!?”
I ignored her completely and continued to cheer Jovita as she practiced her cat-walking lesson.
“Bukky, am I not talking to you?”
“Vodka, please let her be.”
Jeremy again? Vodka quickly ran to him like he was her saviour.
“Jeremy, she tore my clothes.”
Surprisingly, he ignored her and walked up to me. Aw, that must really hurt. He stood facing me, staring directly into my eyes. I didn’t look away this time around. I stared back until he finally spoke out;
“Bukky, we need to talk.”
“No!”
I was quick to respond. I knew that was exactly what he wanted. I could tell that he sensed the anger I felt. He had never seen me like this before; I was this sweet innocent girl, but things have taken to a wrong turn. I attempted to walk out but he held me back. His hands were soft and cold.
“Please Bukky, give me a chance to explain.”
I stopped and looked at the faces of my new crew; they all had that beckoning face.
“OK.”
I followed him outside but stopped to face Vodka while we walked out;
“See? You will always come second.”
She frowned, but Jeremy was there. She dare not raise her hand against me. I was just getting started with her. She would definitely regret the day she met Bisola.
“Bukky, the day you met me wasn't the day I first saw you.”
Hmm… interesting.
“Vodka insisted that I do not go for you because you were an ordinary cleaner, which would have ruined my good reputation. Vodka and I had been in a relationship in the past, but we broke up along the way. Just recently, she made a bet with me that if I don’t win over your heart in a week’s time, I would become hers again.”
He paused for a while to see if I was attentive or not. Trust me, I was over attentive. I signaled him to continue; I just needed new information I could use against Vodka.
“I swear! I didn't know I would fall for you in the process.” He continued, “Vodka blackmailed me to come to her room that night, threatening to tell you about the bet if I refuse to do what she asked for.”
Oh! So Vodka planned all this? I see.
“Bukky, please I am very sorry.”
I looked at him for a while. Of a certainty, I knew he was telling the truth. I quickly forgave him. But to get back to that level of intimacy, that would take a very long time. Truth be told, I no longer trusted him enough, let alone offer him my fragile heart.
“I forgive you.” I voiced out.
I opened my arms and embraced him. I could feel his joy until Clarise rushed to the scene, trying to catch her breath.
“Jeremy... it’s madam Clara.” She said with a worried voice, “She has been rushed to the hospital. She collapsed few minutes ago.”
Oh no! Not madam Clara!
