[Janet…]

Three weeks after my sister’s death, life was very difficult for me. I found it hard to move on without her. Her memories will live with me for the rest of my life. Shola and Wizzy have been very helping during these hard times. I’m glad to have them in my life.

Few weeks down the line, I fell very ill. I thought it was due to the recent incidents. I went to the hospital for a test, only to be told that I was pregnant.

[Shola…]

Wizzy never gave me a moment of peace since the day he told me about a NollyWood movie he watched on television. ‘Genotype’ popped-up in every single conversation we had ever. Without any test, I assured him that my genotype was ‘AA’. The worst sickness I’ve had to deal with is Malaria; I have nothing to worry about as far as this was concerned.

Few weeks later, Janet broke the news to me about her pregnancy. Huh! I couldn’t afford to have a baby out of wedlock. Early the next morning, I sent her money so she could come over to my place at Rivers state.

She arrived two days later. I was happy to see her again after all these while. After taking her around my new surrounding, she decided to go to the kitchen and fix some meal for us.

My eyes flashed on her big bag that lay in the middle of the Sofa. I opened it with the intention of finding some chewing gum, but I bumped into a sealed envelope. Concealed in it was a letter, whose contents hit me hard like Roman Reign’s superman punch.

[Janet…]

I was dishing out food into the plates when I heard my phone ringing. I left the kitchen to pick it up when I saw Shola holding the results of the genotype test I did few months ago.

I cast my attention back to my ringing phone. I spoke with my mum who called to ask about my trip. After I dropped the call, I met the other side of Shola I’ve never seen before.

Shola: Why didn’t you tell me your genotype was ‘SS’?

Janet: You never asked.

Shola: What do you mean I never asked?

Janet: Of course, you never asked. I asked you about your genotype, remember? And you told me it was ‘AA’. I was expecting you to ask me about mine, but you didn’t. Moreover, we are compatible. We are safe.

Shola: I only said that to calm your nerves. I don’t even know my genotype.

Janet: What??
