“Bukky, what is he talking about?” It was Jeremy's turn to ask questions. I felt like running to David but hell no; I did something unexpected instead.
"Jeremy, let's go. I need to take care of that."
I took Jeremy along with me. David couldn't move from where he stood; he remained immobile till I was out of sight. I felt bad. I knew he must be hurt, but I was hurt too. He should know how it feels.
"Yes, we both have history."
I had to explain to Jeremy who never stopped asking questions, but I left out the part where we kissed in Church. I didn't want to make him feel insecure.
"Bukky, do you love me?"
My heart raced faster; it always does each time I think of a perfect lie to tell.
"A love story like ours takes some time to build, right?"
He smiled and held my hand as I tried to massage his cheek. I felt a bit uncomfortable as he stared deep into my eyes and made an attempt to kiss me again. I hit him a little where I knew it would hurt.
We both laughed over it. Funny right; it wasn't to me. But trust me, I’m very good at laughing even if I don’t want to.
Joanne had travelled. I didn't know when; she didn't even inform me before leaving. Where did she even travel to? I guess she didn’t inform me because we weren’t too close.
The day came when I had to present my portrait. I had successfully avoided David for a week. I missed him though, but Jeremy was there to make sure there was no dull moment. I wouldn't deny; I began to like this guy.
David was there too. He had his eyes on me all these while, but Jeremy never left my side. I felt bad for being the cause of their enmity; Madam Clara must not even find out. I planned to bring them together before the issue got overboard.
I spied on Vodka's portrait; it looked incredibly great. Hmmm… she took the shots with David. A sudden rush of jealousy filled me, and I knew fully well that Vodka noticed my feelings when she wore those devilish smiles on her face.
"Bukky, bring your portrait forward."
This was it. I prayed so hard in my heart that I make it to the next stage. I presented a picture of myself and Jeremy kissing. That was all I needed to advance to the next stage.
"Bukky comes first, Vodka second...” That was all Vodka needed to hear as she bounced out of the hall.
That’s not my concern! But it will soon be; because later day, as I payed Madam Clara a visit, I was shocked to the bones when I saw Vodka sitting next to her. I took my steps carefully to make sure it was really Vodka. How did she get here?
Oh no, what as she done?
Madam Clara had tears in her eyes when she asked;
“Bukky? What have you done to my sons?”
